The goal of AOAO’s Pediatric Section is to foster communication between its members, increase our existing membership, and provide the latest research, surgical techniques, and indications to ALL orthopedic surgeons regardless of specialty and to provide encouragement to students and residents who are pursuing pediatric orthopedics.
Because we are a small section, it has been a challenge over the years to secure speakers for our specialty session as well as fill officer positions on our Board. We encourage members of all specialties to join Pediatrics and get involved. If you treat patients under the age of 18, join the Pediatric Section! We are always looking for great speakers and leaders.
In 2020, the Pediatric Section Board along with the AOAO CME Committee decided to join forces with other sections at each spring meeting starting this year. The Joint Pediatric and Foot and Ankle session was a huge success. Kudos to Dr. Joseph Rosenblatt who co-moderated with Dr. Erik Freeland (Foot and Ankle) to provide our members with topics related to pediatric foot injuries. We will continue to join forces with other sections at future spring meetings.
Our intention is to continue with a session at the fall meetings fully dedicated to pediatric orthopedic surgical topics and to improve upon this in future, with increased access via online communications and virtual lectures.
If you are not currently a member, please join! We also invite you to join our listserve from our section website at https://www.aoao.org/groups/sections/pediatrics/ and section forum through the forum app at https://forums.aoao.org/.
