In Step with the SAOAO
Jeffery Gibson, ENS, MC, USNR
SAOAO President

First and foremost, I would like to congratulate all the current 4th years who successfully matched last month! My hope is that SAOAO provided some opportunity to help those who matched whether it be from providing networking opportunities at AOAO conferences or answering questions on how to impress on audition rotations. So congratulations and we look forward to working with you in the future!

The SAOAO Board has several projects on which we are working. One of these projects currently underway is establishing a student and chapter census. It has been a few years since this information has been collected, and we were receiving emails from students requesting information from us about involvement with SAOAO. We recruited two students to help us with this task who will be reaching out to each school and getting this information. We will then be able to use this data to reach out to students and communicate better.

As we are closing in on the Postgraduate Seminar in Rancho Palos Verdes, we are working to provide a meaningful experience for the students. We will be providing information sessions on auditioning, reading and reporting x-rays, and teaching suturing and casting skills. As always, we are looking forward to the program director’s panel and resident Q&A panel. These are always highly anticipated by the students and we always appreciate more participation. We are excited for the upcoming seminar and look forward to seeing you all there.

We could not do what we do and provide our service to the students without the great support and contribution from our President, Dr. Ingram and everybody at AOAO.
