USBJI Provides Free Public Education Programs
The U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) offers free of charge, public education programs on arthritis and on fracture prevention and osteoporosis. Prepared slide sets and collateral materials are available, at no cost, to Collaborating Organizations. There are animated whiteboard videos for both programs that encapsulate the core messages of each program. These are available online, and can be used as an introduction at live sessions as well as on website wellness pages. The videos are available in English and Spanish.
Experts in Arthritis was developed for people with arthritis and those who care about them. The program focuses on disease management for three of the most debilitating forms of arthritis—osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile arthritis. This program empowers participants and their significant others with practical strategies so they can take control of their arthritis. A key benefit of the program is the way it is structured to permit lots of time for participants to interact directly with presenters. Visit www.ControlArthritis.org to schedule a session.
Fit to a T is a program on fracture prevention and osteoporosis. The goal of the program is to educate both men and women the necessary steps to assess their risk for fracture and osteoporosis, and how to prevent bone loss and a fragility fracture, particularly secondary fractures. Participants will learn about the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis. A valued benefit of the program is to provide participants the opportunity to interact directly with the presenter(s). Visit www.fit2t.org to schedule a session.
USBJI will work with Collaborating Organizations and their members interested in organizing/presenting a session of one or both programs, and supply any organizational assistance needed for these one-hour programs. Sessions feature a PowerPoint presentation, question and answer segment, handout materials and artwork to promote sessions.
