Join the Trauma Section! All are welcome!
By Jonathan D. Wigderson, DO
President, Trauma Section

We would like to invite everyone to become members of the Trauma Section.  Completion of a Trauma Fellowship is not required.  Your practice doesn’t have to be primarily trauma.  You just need to have an interest in it.  All AOAO members are welcome.  Benefits of being a part of the Trauma Section include an online network for communicating with other section members, lunch at the AOAO meetings, and access to Fireside Chats where members share cases.

Many of you take general orthopedic call at your institutions.  The Trauma Section recently initiated an online communication tool through GroupMe.  This alone can be of great value to you. All you need to do is join the Section, download the GroupMe app to your mobile device or PC and contact one of the Trauma Section officers to add you to the group. If you are already a member of the Trauma Section, we encourage you to join!

Based on positive feedback, we are planning to have our second Fireside Chat during the Trauma Session at the Annual Meeting in Atlanta.  The session will be on Friday, October 19 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. and you can claim CME for attending. This will be a case presentation style Chat and attendees are encouraged to bring their own cases for discussion.  Attendance is open to everyone. If you wish to get involved and help with this discussion, please contact the session moderator, Dr. Anthony Infante, at tonyinfante@verizon.net.  We will have information later this summer on the date and time of our Trauma section lunch meeting. I am happy to share that during our last section meeting, the officers voted to contribute to the AOAO Foundation’s development of a virtual library.

Section lunch meetings and Fireside Chats encourage camaraderie among section members but are not exclusive.  Once again, we invite everyone to come and join.

Hope to see you in Atlanta!
