Bailouts and safety-net hospitals: A pandemic upside for well-financed institutions when others are sidelined?
Published: May 12, 2021
At the height of the pandemic, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Nur Nurbhai found himself helping out his colleague Dr. Eddie Black in the emergency room.
All elective surgeries were cancelled, cutting off a vital revenue stream for the hospital. As a designated safety-net hospital, no COVID-19 patients would be turned away.
Podcast host Dr. Mary O’Connor peels back the layers of hospital finances with our panel, and explores how our most vulnerable institutions are serving our most vulnerable patients. With rural health and healthcare policy expert Bill Finerfrock.
