Awards for Annual Fall Meeting Abstract Submissions – Deadline June 14
Osteopathic Distinct Award
Selection of this award is based on 1) relevance to the principles of osteopathy, i.e. Body capable of self-regulation, self-healing and health maintenance, structure and function are inter-related, there is unity of mind body and spirit; 2) relevance to patient treatment and potential to change clinical practice; and 3) originality of the work done. The recipient must agree to present their research at the Annual Fall Meeting. The recipient receives a monetary award of $900 and travel reimbursement for presenting at the meeting. When submitting your abstract, simply check you wish to be considered for this award.
AOAO Foundation Outstanding Resident Paper Award
The Outstanding Resident Paper Award is awarded to the resident receiving the overall highest score on their submitted abstract based on the scoring of the Residents and Fellows Committee. The recipient will receive a plaque, recognition at the Annual Meeting, and a monetary award of $500.
Outstanding Resident of the Year – Deadline May 31
This award is given jointly by the AOAO and the American Osteopathic Foundation annually to recognize and honor outstanding residents who embody a great spirit of altruism and whose combination of clinical promise, leadership, dedication, and commitment to osteopathic patient-centered care separate them from their peers. Nominations for this award must come from the leadership of the residency program. The recipient receives a monetary award of $5,000 presented at the AOAO Annual Awards Ceremony each fall.
Scientific Paper Awards – Deadline July 15 for 2021 Awards
Residents in any orthopedic residency training program may submit their research project (abstract, scientific paper, case study, literature review) through the AOAO Case Log System between July 16 and July 15 the following year. Submissions are reviewed and scored by the AOAO Editorial Subcommittee on an annual basis. Submissions receiving the three highest scores in the categories of adult reconstruction, foot and ankle, general, hand, pediatrics, shoulder and elbow, spine, sports and trauma receive the award. Award winners are invited to present their research project during an AOAO Annual Meeting. If the award winner presents at a meeting, he or she receives travel reimbursement and a monetary award ($900 for First Place, $600 for Second Place and $300 for Third Place).

Grants
AOAO Foundation Osteopathic Research and Education for Orthopedics (ORE-O) Grant
Offered through a joint collaboration between the AOAO Foundation and the American Osteopathic Foundation for AOAO members enrolled in a residency or fellowship training program. The recipient receives up to $10,000 to fund their research. The submission site is now open through June 4, 2021. For more information click HERE.
AOAO Foundation Research Grant
AOAO members enrolled in a residency or fellowship training program may apply. The recipient receives up to $5,000 to fund their research. The grant submission process is closed for 2021. The Foundation would like to congratulate the recipient of the 2021 Research Grant, David Le, DO from the Rowan SOM/Inspira Health Network Residency Program. The submission site will re-open early 2022.
